Tour concept

The Pyrenees:
The mountain range extends about 500km/310mi from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean (West to East). About 1/3 of the Pyrenees are in France and 2/3 in Spain. The northern part is generally steeper and this is where most of the famous Tour-de-France cols are located. On the southern Spanish side, the slopes are generally milder and there is even less traffic.

The Central-Pyrenees Tour:
Starting location is the Vall de Boí in Spain. About 280km/175mi drive from Barcelona this is the most southeastern point of the Central-Pyrenees tour. The remarkable Boí valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with nine Romanesque churches from the 9th and 10th century. For the first three stages we cycle the southern slopes of the Pyrenees in a westerly direction. Being less steep, these roads are ideal for the first few days. Then we have a rest day in the beautiful small town of Isaba. While located in the province of Navarra, the people here consider themselves Basque. The final three stages are dedicated to the challenging Tour-de-France cols on the northern, French side. Cycling in an easterly direction, we end the tour back in Spain in the town of Vielha, just 20km north of our starting point in Boí.

Rental bike

We have a selection of various Cervélo rental bikes. All of which you may rent for our Pyrenees tours.

We recommend the Cervélo C3 climb rental bike with 50/34 with 11-34 gears and Continental GrandPrix GT 28mm tires (rental price: 268€).

On the arrival day your rental bike will be set up for you and adjusted to best match your position and requirements. You may bring your own pedals and saddle and we will attach these to your rent bike. If you bring your own computer or GPS you may attach this system to the bike.

Bringing your own bike

If you are bringing your own bike in a bike-case and are taking our airport transfer, please let us know in advance and we will bring your bike-case to the starting location in the Pyrenees (bike transport price: 45€).

For the bike set-up, we have most standard tools (including a torque wrench) available for you. So, unless your bike has special requirements, there is no need to bring extra tools. During the tour your bike-case will be stored and brought to where the tour ends. There, you may repack your bike in the evening before the departure day. During the tour you will not have access to your bike-case and your bike might need to be transported by us on the roof of our vehicle.

While we offer tools for setting up your bike, please be advised that correct and timely bike set-up remains your responsibility. During the tour we carry spare parts for Shimano 11-Speed components. If you have anything other than this, we recommend bringing some basic spare parts as you see fit.

Coming by car

If you are coming with your own car, you may park it for the duration of the tour in Boí. To pick up your car, we offer a transfer in the afternoon after the final stage from Vielha to Boí (price: 45€ per person). We will then return together to Vielha for dinner.
